The Problem

The web 3 space (and Metis in particular) has a pandemic of crappy information with little to no oversight. How many times have you found yourself reading a project’s docs only to realize 16 pages in you still have no idea what they do or why it might be a good thing?

Projects love shoving buzzwords (often made up by themselves) everywhere and mixing it with every tech sounding acronym they can find.

Result? The bare truth of what a project is trying to do is often obscured, even for well intentioned teams.

Why is this? Here's a few reasons...

1. The team is made up only of devs. Devs obviously (for the most part) know a ton about what their project does and the tech it relies on. It can be hard to separate themselves from that expertise and present information in the way your average investor can understand

2. Monkey see monkey do. In the last big bull market a ton of projects that actually did stuff started cropping up. These first projects were often very successful and so the goal of every project was to appear to be as smart as possible. Now projects do it because they assume that if everyone is doing it it must be right.

3. Some people just suck. No two ways about it; there are a lot of bad actors in this space. A lot of projects know that their token has no tangible value and so they use buzzwords to give the illusion of utility when there is none (“gOvErNaNcE”).

Furthermore it has become the norm to foster an air of mystery. Ever asked a simple question in a telegram and received an answer like “Watch this space!” or “Big things coming!”? Now imagine someone saying those sentences to a concern raised in a corporate shareholder meeting. It wouldn’t fly there and we don’t believe it should here either.

We believe what Metis needs, more than anything, is to regain trust through accountability. If only there was a champion willing to fight for the average investor in the Metis ecosystem…
